See changes with Breastlight

Get to know your breasts. Women often hear it’s a good idea to feel for changes in their breasts. Lumps and asymmetries could signal cancer. Now, a small handheld machine that can be used at home allows women to see changes as well feel them.

The Breastlight, which looks a bit like a mini hair dryer, is a device containing a powerful light.

When you press it to your breast, it lights up and shows what your breast looks like on the inside. Dark lines, for instance, are veins, and that is normal. But dark shadows or splotches may be a signal to go to the doctor for a mammogram or clinical examination. In most cases, it is a false alarm, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Breastlight is used with a water-based lubricant. The device costs $149.99, a little steep, but it can be used over and over again. It is available at Rexall and Rexall Pharma Plus stores and at www.breastlight.ca.
