The kitschy Genesis sample featured on Anybody Listening, the lead single from Classified’s 13th album, is the onlysign that Self Explanatory is the Halifax MC/producer’s first major-label release. Otherwise, this 22-track record is business as usual for the consistent rap artist — good news for fans of his past releases.
Beyond the expectantly dope series of melody-intensive DJ Premier-influenced beats, highlights include the touching narrative of Inspiration,the fiery lyricism of Trouble, Class’ trademark self-deprecation throughout, and an all-star lineup of Canadian cameos.
