THE SKINNY: The Senators defeated the Montreal Canadiens for the first time this season and have now won seven of their last eight games.

THE HOME STREAK: With last night’s victory Ottawa is undefeated in six straight home games.

THE STAR: Ottawa centre Jason Spezza collected two goals in the victory with his first markers against the Habs in five games this season. He also picked up an assist on Daniel Alfredsson’s game winner.

THE PIZZA LINE DELIVERS AGAIN: Ottawa’s top line of Dany Heatley, Alfredsson and Spezza combined for five points in the victory. The trio have racked up 32 points in the past eight games.

THE NEW RECORD: Sens goalie Brian Elliott picked up his seventh straight win setting a new franchise record for the longest winning streak by a rookie netminder. Jani Hurme (2000-2001) and Ray Emery (2005-2006) shared the previous record with six wins.

THE HOOK: Carey Price was pulled from the Montreal net early in the second period after giving up four goals on 15 shots. Jaroslav Halak stopped 23 of 24 Ottawa shots for the Canadiens the rest of the way.

THE NEXT GAME: Ottawaface-off againstthe New York Islanders on Saturday night in the Senators’third home game this week.
