Serving sentences for cancer research

Chris Mitchell was all smiles when he was escorted to prison yesterday.

The 25-year-old oil-and-gas worker said he expected to make his $1,800 bail and, since it’s going to cancer research, it’s his pleasure to do a bit of time.

“I’m being arrested for killing Florence and moving to Geneva, which is kind of work talk,” said the Edmonton Jail-N-Bail participant.

“I think it’s a fun thing to do. It’s really busy at work right now, but it’s for a great cause, so it’s good.”

Christy Ravndahl, revenue-development co-ordinator, said this year’s goal is to raise over $200,000.

Jail-N-Bail continues at Commerce Place today but the jailbirds didn’t have to spend the night.

“We are nice,” she said. “We do let them go at the end of the day.”
