Several Ottawa connections among Juno nods

The Juno nominations are in.

Among the nominees for the 2010 awards are Ottawa harpist Caroline Leonardelli and principal double bassist for the National Arts Centre Orchestra Joel Quarrington, who are both up for classical album of the year, solo or chamber ensemble.

Montreal-born bass-baritone opera singer Gerald Finley, who attended the University of Ottawa, is nominated for classical album of the year, vocal or choral performance for his Songs by Ravel, and k-os, a.k.a. Kevin Brereton, whose song, Yes! was nominated for rap recording of the year, attended Carleton University for a year in 1992.

The artist with the most nominations is Vancouver-based singer Michael Bublé, who has nominations in six categories.

This year’s Juno Awards will be held in St. John’s on April 18.
