Sex worker stabbed during abduction

A 27-year-old female sex worker was taken to Royal Columbian hospital suffering from stab wounds yesterday after she escaped from a man who allegedly abducted her at knifepoint at a Kingsway hotel.

Her alleged kidnapper, a 47-year-old man, was later arrested by Surrey RCMP.

The incident began around 9:30 a.m. when police were called to the Cassandra Hotel at 3075 Kingsway after receiving complaints about a screaming woman being forced into a vehicle.

Police said the suspect and victim knew each other.

Vancouver Insp. Eric Grummisch said witnesses were “shaken up” but maintained the wherewithal to note the vehicle’s description and licence plate number.

Shortly thereafter, the woman was found at a New Westminster mall suffering from stab wounds.

Grummisch said she had escaped from the vehicle, but didn’t have any details about her escape.

RCMP arrested the alleged abductor in Surrey after Vancouver police posted an alert about the suspect’s vehicle. Unconfirmed reports stated the suspect was washing blood from his car when he was arrested.
