Showing off their body of work

Tattoos are a form of expression.

In addition to famous horror movie characters inked on his arm, Cleve Kennedy added two more pieces to match a portrait of two girls on his chest.

“I’m having my daughters’ names put on my arm,” he said. “I love them so much and they just mean so much to me and it’s something I’ll have forever.”

Like Kennedy, hundreds of tattoo fanatics kept tattoo artists buzzing away at the Alberta Bound Tattoo and Arts Festival held at the Shaw Conference Centre over the weekend.

Bear, owner of Bear’s Skin Art, enjoys bringing people’s imagination to life on their skin.

“The most inspiring thing about tattoo as an art form for me is literally giving an individual the opportunity to express themselves artistically on their body through my techniques and my abilities,” he said.

About 6,000 people attended over the weekend and yesterday’s wrap-up included a contest for best tattoo artwork of the year.
