Sign up or your kids don’t play

Before the kids can lace em’ up the parents have to type it out.

Hockey Calgary parents have until October 15 at the latest to complete a one-hour online Respect in Sport program or their child won’t be allowed to play this season, according to officials.

Hockey Calgary’s president Perry Cavanagh strongly encourages parents to adhere to the deadline. Only one parent per hockey family needs to complete the program.

“We just want this to be a safe environment for everyone including players, parents, coaches, referees, arena staff, administration and even janitors,” Cavanagh said.

Respect in Sport co-founder Wayne McNeil said the online program is geared towards educating parents and encouraging positive tools in dealing with people and creating realistic expectations for their kids.
