Tony Bennett hadn’t even practiced with the Halifax Rainmen before throwing on their jersey last night, but he made a pretty solid debut under the circumstances.
The 6-foot guard from Chicago signed first thing yesterday morning and flew in at 2 p.m., then had 12 points and three assists in 15 minutes in a Rainmen home win.
He showed great chemistry with Rob Sanders and broke a full-court press most of the fourth quarter.
“I’ve been playing basketball since I was five, and it just comes naturally,” said Bennett, of stepping right into a new team. “It’s just having basketball sense, basketball IQ.”
