MLA Bob Simpson is gaining Facebook friends and support after B.C. NDP Leader Carole James ousted him from caucus.
Simpson had said James’s speech at the Union of B.C. Municipalities convention lacked specifics.
So far, more than 276 people have joined a Return Bob Simpson to the NDP Caucus Facebook page pledging their support to Simpson and democracy in general.
“Free speech has to be a front-burner issue for everyone,” said Shawn Lowe on the page.
“Every strike against free speech is a strike against democracy itself.”
For now, Simpson will be an independent member of the legislative assembly as there’s no word yet on whether James would consider returning him to caucus.
