Sink your teeth into Austrian schnitzel

The family-run café Vienna Lux sticks to the basic schnitzels (all $6.95) that have filled tummies centuries over. Two gigantic pieces of wiener schnitzel are crammed into a soft, fresh Kaiser bun. The veal is breaded with spices and then scrumptiously deep fried.

The famous beef sandwich ($6.95) features pieces of tender pot roast in Vienna Lux’s tangy “special sauce.”

All sandwiches come with your choice of free toppings: Sautéed mushrooms, red cabbage, sauerkraut, pickles, sautéed onions, or hot peppers. Cheese is an extra dollar.

Gulya, or goulash, ($6.95) is thick with pieces of beef, dumplings and subtle hints of paprika and caraway.

Dessert is baked fresh daily. A peach lemon poppy seed cake ($2.50) was divine.

The licensed café has ample seating for lunch and dinner in addition to take out.
