Six people were injured at a Starbucks in Richmond after a woman in her 70s put her vehicle in the wrong gear and drove through the patio.

The woman was parked outside a Starbucks at No. 2 and Blundell roads in Richmond.

She was backing out of her spot when she mistakenly put the car in drive and struck six people who were seated on the patio, police say.

A woman in her 20s and a man in his 40s were transported to hospital. The woman was reportedly in stable condition, but needed surgery.

The man had initially lost all feeling below the waist, but was beginning to regain feeling in his feet.

The other four injured people refused medical treatment and were able to walk away from the accident.

The driver was not injured.

RCMP said charges are being considered, but have not yet been laid. Alcohol was not involved.
