Six residents in the Davisville area woke up to discover their cars had been stolen from their driveways early yesterday morning.

Police were called to the neighbourhood between 7 and 8:30 a.m. yesterday morning, finding six Toyota Highlanders had been taken overnight from different homes between Mt. Pleasant Road and Bayview Avenue near Eglinton Avenue East.

Const. Tony Vella said it is still unclear how the vehicles were stolen, but police are currently speaking to witnesses in the area and reviewing security camera footage for possible clues.

One possibility being investigated is the use of a computer program that could crack the door code on keyless vehicles.

Two or more people are suspected to be responsible for the thefts, but police have no description of suspects yet.

Vella advises residents in the area to take necessary precautions with their vehicles.

“If you have a garage make sure you place your car in the garage. If you have an alarm system or a locking device for your steering wheel use it, that way it reduces the chances of you being victimized,” he said.
