A SkyTrain attendant has received a police commendation for coming to the aid of a constable being assaulted by a suspected auto thief.
Richard Ayotte and a SkyTrain passenger helped subdue a suspect who was punching, kicking and kneeing a New Westminster police officer after she placed one handcuff on the man’s wrist.
The incident on March 16, 2008 began after the officer confronted a man suspected of leading police in a high-speed car chase earlier that day.
SkyTrain CEO Doug Kelsey said Ayotte’s actions are a testament to his character and exemplify the high quality of SkyTrain staff.
