Sleepwatcher strikes city’s west end

A sleepwatcher struck in Halifax’s west end last weekend.

A woman on Edinburgh Street woke to find a man masturbating in her bedroom at 4:40 a.m. on Saturday morning. He fled when she confronted him.

While the man in this incident entered the residence in a similar way (through an unlocked door or window), police say it appears to be a different M.O. than the south end sleepwatcher who broke into several young women’s homes beginning in 2008.

Const. Brian Palmeter with the Halifax Regional Police said the latest incident was not in the university area and the south end sleepwatcher didn’t masturbate while watching the women.
