Sludge forces 9-1-1 centre evacuation

Call-takers at the 9-1-1 centre in Dartmouth were evacuated for about eight hours yesterday because of a noxious smell that caused security concerns at about 4 a.m.

Police and firefighters determined sludge in a humidifier was causing the stink.

Halifax regional police spokesman Const. Jeff Carr said staff were allowed back in the building at about 1 p.m.
