Paul Munro, 31, is just another happy small business owner in Calgary.

Calgary was named the happiest city for small business owners in Canada, according to the North American TD Small Business Happiness Index; 30 per cent of owners here surveyed described themselves as “very happy.” Munro said he, too, is “very happy” running his pet store, Pawsitively Natural, in Mission.

“I love it,” he said. “It’s a great feeling to say, ‘This is what I built and it’s successful.’” 97% of those surveyed said owning a small business gives them a sense of pride and accomplishment.

Owners said that being their own boss, creating their own schedule, and making their own decisions were benefits, stated the release.
