Snip your locks for cancer

The Terry Fox Foundation is looking for people who can convince others to say “goodbye” to their hair for The Great Canadian Head Shave in support of cancer research.

Last year, the foundation raised more than $1 million in donations on Terry Fox Works Day — a day when employees across the country agree to shave their heads in search of a cure. Last year, 1,100 Canadians parted ways with their locks during the one-day fundraiser.

For the 2008 works day, the foundation is hiring people to promote the head-shaving event at Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby. The organizers will be responsible for getting companies involved and need to be available for the big day on Sept. 12 to run the event.

The organizers will gain valuable experience in staging large-scale events and have the opportunity to meet many people from communities all over the Lower Mainland.
