Something fishy is happening at Aquavit

How are you going to celebrate Midsummer this year? Don’t tell us you don’t have anything planned; after all, it is a celebration of the summer solstice and the longest day of the year (June 21), a party that dates back to pre-Christianity. So do what the citizens of Sweden, Norway, Denmark and other (mostly European) countries do to celebrate this epic pagan tradition — eat herring. Lots and lots of herring.

Sound good? Join Aquavit (65 E. 55th St., 212-307-7311) for their Herring Festival and herring smorgasbord in their bistro for lunch (noon-2:30 p.m.; $24.07) or dinner (5:30-10:30 p.m., $35) June 14-19 and 21-26.
