Spa Week: Winter recovery is within reach

Shedding your winter coat means baring your winter skin. Luckily Spa Week — your chance to score $50 treatments at spas across the city (and country) — is taking place April 11-17, just in time to swap those sweaters for short sleeves.
“After this year’s grueling winter, the skin on our face and body needs some damage control,” says Trena Ross, spa director at L’Institut Sothys in Manhattan. “The elements have left our skin dry, dehydrated and dull — and it is necessary to look for treatments that will help bring radiance and vitality and restore health to the skin to return that ‘spring’ glow.”
Ross suggests looking for treatments that exfoliate — full-body treatments should include scrubs or polishes to do the trick, and facials should nourish the skin as well as exfoliate it. Spring is also when clients look for remedies to improve that burgeoning beach body, she says. “Many slimming treatments designed to improve the appearance of cellulite and refine the body contours require a succession of treatments in order to see the desired results,” Ross explains. “Spring is the perfect time to start this regimen in order to get bikini-ready for the summer.”
