City council will hold a public hearing on Monday to discuss the possibility of Spruce Meadows annexing to the Municipal District of Foothills.
Ward 12 Ald. Ric McIver said he will have some questions about the potential move but he understands why Spruce Meadows would want to annex to one of the two areas they sit in.
“As it stands they are half in Calgary area and half in the Foothills M.D. district so I understand why they wouldn’t want to straddle the two areas,” McIver said.
McIver said Spruce Meadows expressed desire to become wholly in the Foothills M.D. and on Monday, council and the public will explore the issue further.
“When they are doing something that requires approval they have to get approval from both areas and that’s a lot more work so this makes sense,” McIver added.
The public hearing on Monday is one of many items set to be discussed during the combined council meeting.
