Stabbed trucker lay overnight in Dartmouth parking lot, police say

Police are waiting to speak to a man who was stabbed multiple times and left overnight in the parking lot of a Dartmouth mall.

Police believe the 40-year-old victim pulled his 18-wheeler into the Penhorn Mall parking lot at around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

He was found almost 12 hours later in the cab of his vehicle suffering from multiple stab wounds.

The man was transported to hospital and the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

“Obviously he wasn’t able to signal for help or to drive himself to the hospital,” said Halifax Regional Police spokesman Const. Brian Palmeter.

As of late yesterday police were waiting to speak to the victim.

Three men were arrested just hours after the man was discovered.

Police officers checked out an address on Willowdale Drive in Cole Harbour and made the arrests, one after a brief foot chase.

The men were allegedly in possession of stolen property.

Police couldn’t say when the attack took place or why the man was in the parking lot.

Palmeter said it’s possible he had stopped to get some sleep as the vehicle included an area with a bed.
