Aldo currently has a wide variety of well-priced shoes.

Flat footed

Several readers have written to FF wondering where to find the prettiest, most comfy flats for under $50. While there are lovelies to be scooped at The Shoe Company, Payless and newbie budget chain Spring, perhaps the most fashion-forward buys await stylistas at Aldo. Expect to find a medley of ballet flats — some pointy, some with square toes, others rounded with bows — in polka dots, patterns, solids and metallics. Other flats include slides, Mary Janes, athletic silhouettes with elastic detailing (which give a nod to Stella McCartney) as well as Romanesque sandals featuring shell discs and sexy hardware. Many are priced under $40.

Diva offer trendy gems at mind-bogglingly inexpensive prices.

Diva debuts

If you love the hip finds at H&M and the goodies from Accessorize, you’re likely to fall hard for the fetchingly frugal Diva, www.divacanada.com, an international chain of shops big in Australia that’s just hit Canada this spring. Very much on-trend and mind-bogglingly inexpensive, Diva delivers serious retail bliss for accessory junkies in a bright white, user-friendly environment accented with hot pink. Cool, extra-long beaded necklaces and multi-charm pendants start at just $8, while rings, hair adornments and clutches are priced well under $20. Fresh stock arrives almost daily, so visit often. Check it out on the lower level of the Eaton Centre or at Dufferin Mall.

Low-price planet

Stretch your fashion dollar at Urban Planet, www.urban-planet.com, an increasingly stylish and wallet-friendly chain. Snag two pairs of over-sized sunglasses for just $12 (available in white, black brown and select candy brights). And make sure to check out the capri-style leggings that knot just below the knees (now $10, reg. $15 a pair), plus all kinds of chunky necklaces, cuffs and huge hoop earrings (two for $10). If you’re in the market for super-cute tops and sundresses, then peruse the numerous styles (all priced under $20) in everything from retro prints (think rainbows, apples and flowers) to more exotic patterns and summery colour combos.

Tops and trouser shorts

Whether you’re petite, plus-sized or somewhere in between, Reitmans has you covered this season. This week, pop in to score deals on freshly discounted trouser shorts (perfect for office or weekend), skirts and various tops. The trouser shorts, which come in various lengths and fabrics, are $29; the same goes for a diverse mix of skirts; and most tops (deep V-necks, drop-waisted styles, cotton tees, wrap-tops with pretty appliqués and lots more) are yours for $10 to $25. Scoop a few mix-and-match pieces for under $100.
