A 10-month strike at the Palace Casino could draw to a close tonight when 200 union members vote on a new four-year contract.
“When a strike goes on for that long you never know whether you will survive or not,” said Doug O’Halloran, president of the United Food and Commercial Workers.
“The Palace has proved itself to be a very strong adversary and we hope it gets settled and we can get back to work and get the customers back into the casino.”

Details on the proposed collective agreement won’t be released until after the vote, he said. If the settlement is ratified, he expects striking workers to be called back to the casino located in West Edmonton Mall immediately.
