Students celebrate relaxed suite rules

New legislation relaxing restrictions on secondary suites has given students a reason to celebrate.

The University of Alberta Student Union said in a news release that it believes the new legislation will expand the quantity of affordable, safe and properly maintained suites for students.

“This will definitely help cater to many of our students who are living in these suites,” student union president Janelle Morin said. “We are pleased that city council has listened to the concerns of students. This is an encouraging step.”

Dave Trautman, president of the Argyll Community League, believes more people should be living next to each other, and that more residents per building is a good idea.
