More and more women are taking a page from the lives of Demi Moore,
Madonna and Cameron Diaz (be it their past or present) and reeling in
those sexy, younger men.
And the men seem to enjoy a woman with a little more … experience.
Fastlife, which offers specialized speed-dating events, is one
of the many dating services that has become wise to this dating trend.
Their Toyboy & Sugar Mamma events, which started in Canada just
over a year ago, have become one of their most popular says the
company’s CEO and founder Justin Parfitt. These events are also their
most successful in terms of matches.
“Generally, at an event where there are 20 people, you get maybe
17 or 18 people getting a match. There would be two or three people
that didn’t,” he says. “But with these, we almost always get everyone
getting a match and getting a match with several people.”
Parfitt says he notices a role reversal at these events, where the women take the lead, while the men follow suit.
“The women that attend are bolder. They are in control and able
to express their preferences,” says Parfitt. “While the men take on a
slightly more feminine role. They are conscious that they are the
younger ones.”
Changing, it seems, are the days of the suave macho male taking
care of his girlfriend’s every desire. Or just older men attracting
beautiful, young women with the promises of being taken care of.
More women are taking to the dating motto of Ivana Trump —
Donald Trump’s ex-wife and former matchmaker of the reality show Ivana
Young Man — and saying “I’d rather be a babysitter than a nurse.”
But with such an acute change in the roles of men and women in
dating, it’s little wonder that most of us are so utterly confused by
the opposite sex. When it comes to dating, what was once, whether we
liked it or not, clearly defined by our gender, has now been turned on
its head and we’re left trying to catch up with the change.
