Super Ex’s last hurrah at Lansdowne

With a move imminent, SuperEx is celebrating the past 122 years at Lansdowne Park.

This year’s Central Canada Exhibition, opening today, will be the last held at the historic city fairgrounds.

A move away from Lansdowne Park had been discussed for a long time, but it will become a reality when work begins to redevelop the space.

The CCE Association purchased property in south Ottawa by the Rideau Carleton Raceway, but president Lyn Presley, would not say if SuperEx is moving there next summer.

“There are several options that people came forward and wanted us to look at,” said Presley.

“In the fall, we’re going to make an announcement.”

There are a number of exhibits celebrating the history of the fair. Organizers have been working the City of Ottawa Archives to create a historical display in the Coliseum Building, said Presley.

“We expect a lot of people will be coming that have some history with the exhibition.”
