Eastern Front Theatre’s 16th annual SuperNova Theatre enjoyed large crowds during its best year ever after moving to Neptune Studio Theatre to showcase its productions.

A release by SuperNova said they enjoyed a 24 per cent increase in attendance and a 43 per cent jump in box office sales when compared to last year.

The event previously took place at Alderney Landing Theatre in Dartmouth, but organizers went with Neptune’s Studio Theatre in Halifax for the 11-day May event this year and organizers believe it played a part in the higher numbers.

The festival intends to use the venue again next year, which takes place April 29 – May 10, 2010.

SuperNova producers also attributed the success of this year’s show to quick turnaround time between plays that gave people the opportunity to stay longer and see more shows.
