The price is right and the food is fresh at Sushi Couture. Lunch Specials, offered from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., gets you soup, salad and your dish of choice for as low as $7.99. My companion and I each choose Sushi Combo # 1 ($11.99) — 8 pieces sushi (tuna, salmon, B.C. tuna, butterfish and shrimp) and crunchy salmon maki.
Delicate tunas taste of the sea. Rich butterfish, silky salmon and moist, sweet shrimp complete a stunning array of sushi.
There are missteps — the crunchy salmon maki is actually tuna, neither of us receives a salad (we are never told why) and returning customers get fawned over while new ones like us were dismissed — but the seafood is outstanding.
Fantastic food will only take you so far in this business. Let’s hope the rest falls into place.
