A 20-year-old Cape Breton man suspected of brandishing a weapon at the Petro Canada gas station in Sydney River on Friday was arrested without incident by police on Sunday night.

According to Cape Breton Regional Police, a male driver was waiting for a spot at the pumps around 11:30 a.m. Friday, when a man drove his vehicle around him into the vacant spot and pumped his fuel. After the man paid for his fuel, he returned to his vehicle, but the vehicle he had cut off was behind him and there was another vehicle ahead of him.

“This male got out of his vehicle with the weapon in his hand, yelling and screaming at these other customers to get out of his way,” a police release said.

Kennedy said the suspect is charged with two counts of assault with a weapon and breach of conditions.
