A couple wanted in the death of Consuelo Valencia-Russo, a Toronto French teacher found dead in the trunk of her car, is believed to be hiding in Mexico City.

The couple paid cash for two tickets to Mexico and flew out of Pearson International Airport on July 8 — the day after police believe Valencia-Russo was killed.

Detectives are preparing provisional warrants for Mexican authorities that will lay out the case against the suspects.

Once those are in place, a ground search for the pair can begin, said Toronto Det. Sgt. Terry Browne yesterday..

First-degree murder warrants have been issued for Juan Antonio Reyes, 23, and Ana Laura Rodrigues, 19, both of Mexico.
