A woman who was in rehab with Thomas Svekla testified yesterday that the accused double killer admitted in a group therapy session that he found Rachel Quinney’s body in the woods.
“He told us that he stumbled in the woods to find Rachel Quinney,” said the woman adding that Svekla mentioned the dead woman by her name in the session. She met Svekla at the rehab centre in St. Albert trying to kick a crack cocaine addiction.
The woman, whose name can’t be used because of a publication ban, told court Svekla admitted to picking up a prostitute named Bunny, and then smoked crack with her in a cream-coloured truck.
After smoking “eightballs of crack cocaine” in the truck, Svekla needed to get some fresh air, she said yesterday.
“When he got out of the vehicle, he found her,” said the woman.
The woman says she knew Bunny after working as a prostitute, but never knew her real name.
“I found out later she was killed,” said the woman.
