Swann levels criticism at Conservatives

Alberta Liberal Leader David Swann returned from his latest trip to the legislature very disappointed.

“This session the premier and his administration showed they are not in fact up to the task; not able to serve the public’s interest for the long term,” said Swann.

Swann claimed this session showed the Conservatives were poor planners and failing to save for the future while still depending heavily on oil and gas revenues. He believes this will leave the Conservatives unprepared for the inevitable decline of oil and gas revenues.

“Budget amendments we proposed, if they had been adopted, could have shaved another $50 million off of our deficit,” said Swann.

Swann was clearly disappointed with the passing of Bill 44. “It forced human rights in Alberta to take a huge step backwards; the premiers so-called free vote was a farce,” said Swann.
