Sweltering heat set to subside midweek

The Lower Mainland’s suffocating heat is due to break this week, Environment Canada said yesterday following a weekend of broken B.C. temperature records.

Meteorologist Doug Lundquist said marine air is trying to push its way into Metro Vancouver.

“The heat will slowly subside this week, and we’ll see the biggest change on Wednesday with a high of 22 C.”

According to Lundquist, this past Saturday was especially hot with 28.6 C at the Vancouver International Airport, which trumped the 1942 record of 27.8 C.
