More than 150 swimmers will be taking to the Ottawa River on Saturday for the fourth annual Bring on the Bay three-kilometre open water swim for Easter Seals.
The course will take swimmers from the Nepean Sailing Club out to the middle of the river and then to the Britannia Yacht Club.
Competitive swimmers will cover the distance in 40 minutes, said organizer Richard Pessah, but many others are just going out to enjoy a fully supported swim in the Ottawa River.
“We’ve got water patrol. There are kayaks. The marine police will be out there. St. John’s Ambulance is on stand by, but we’ve never had any mishaps at all,” said Pessah.
