Sydney Sixers win Aussie Big Bash T20 title

PERTH, Australia – Moises Henriques scored 70 runs and Brett Lee returned 2-21 after dismissing Herschelle Gibbs with the first ball of the match as the Sydney Sixers beat Perth Scorchers by seven wickets Saturday to win the first edition of Australia’s expanded Twenty20 Big Bash League.

Lee took two wickets in the first over before Mitch Marsh’s 77 from 57 balls helped Perth to 156-5.

Henriques struck six boundaries and four sixes and Stephen O’Keefe contributed 48 to the 110-run opening stand to lead the Sixers to 158-3 to claim victory with seven balls to spare.

The Sixers and Scorchers both qualified for the Twenty20 Champions League in October.
