T.O. label Swaby launches collection

Swaby’s launch

This Sunday, local label Swaby is launching its Designer Picks collection, which boasts mix-and-match pieces that are very of the moment and also very fairly priced at $25 to $155 each.

Many Toronto stylistas are familiar with this impressive line’s popular mix of contemporary basics and its more exclusive couture range. Shernett Swaby, the brainy fashionista behind the label, is well known for her exceptional tailoring and distinctive silhouettes. This new collection includes casual dresses, trousers, designer denim, cropped jackets and a chic trench coat as well as several gorgeous tops.

Shoppers who make a purchase this Sunday from the new collection will receive a second item (of equal value) at no cost.

Swaby, formerly located on the Danforth, is now at 187A Queen St. E. For a sneak peek, visit www.shernettswaby.com.

Style for less

This file shot shows an example of a Vidal Sassoon cut. Check out the salon’s academy in Yorkville.

Summer is a great time to take a chance on a new look, and nothing beats fabulous hair.

If you’ve been flirting with making a change, but don’t know for sure what you want nor have excess cash to blow, then consider putting yourself in the capable yet supervised and inspired hands of an emerging stylist at the Vidal Sassoon Academy (37 Avenue Rd., just north of Bloor Street in Yorkville).

This is where professional colourists and cutters come to refine their skills and learn the trademark techniques of this respected style hub known for consistently pushing boundaries. Experience intense creative mojo for a song, with cuts going for a mere $24 or $50 for cut and colour — a fraction of what they charge in the salon.

Just keep in mind that this is an educational environment, so expect to dedicate two to three hours to your transformation (including a consultation). Interested? Call 416-920-1333 to book an appointment.

Bra and panty raid

Summer is here, and if you still don’t have a few fresh bras and undies in your top drawer, then visit La Senza where they’re going for a little — just $8.50 for several styles of bras you’d be happy to have peeking out of your tank or sundress.

Cute panties are on for three for $10, plus cotton boy-brief styles are tagged at five for $25.

While you’re there, make sure to take a gander at all the other deals, such as summer-weight PJ sets starting as low as $12, reduced flip-flops and slippers, vampy numbers for romantic weekends and lots more.
