Talent will see Herd through: GM

One QMJHL general manager is picking the Halifax Mooseheads in seven games over the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in the quarter-finals.

Here is his anonymous take:

• “Halifax is the most talented team in the league. Their weakness is on defence and in net.”

• “We all knew Cape Breton had one good line, but we didn’t know how good the others were. Joey Haddad, Alex Lamontagne — they got these guys for pocket change.”

• “I know for sure, Cape Breton will be the more disciplined team. For Halifax, Brad Marchand might lose it. Teams talk about getting on his nerves. But he’s also one of those guys who can win a series by himself. It all depends which Brad shows up.”

• “Halifax is so good offensively. If you stop (Jakub) Voracek and Marchand, it doesn’t mean you win the game. They have many other weapons.”

• “The game plan for most teams against Halifax is to use your outside speed. Get pucks deep, force them to turn, and make their defence corps cough it up as much as they can.”
