Not letting a little rain get them down, hundreds of food lovers took in the smells and flavours of the Taste of Calgary this weekend.

The 13th annual food festival delighted taste buds at Eau Claire Market, despite the rain and even after the event was postponed last weekend due to the weather, according to organizer Sue Van Aalst.

“Well, I guess it’s unfortunate it rained. We would have liked to see nicer weather, but people came out and enjoyed anyways, and hopefully next year the weather will be on our side,” she said, adding there were 12 new vendors for patrons this year.

Her husband and fellow organizer, Dave, said while Thursday and Friday were a bit slower, things really picked up on Saturday and Sunday.

“Now that the sun came out, people are coming out. It really shows the resiliency of Calgarians and it’s great to see. I think people are having a lot of fun and trying new things.”

Those people included first-time Taste of Calgary goer Chelsea Waite, 23, who tried a variety of things she liked, including octopus croquette from Shibuya Izakaya, seaweed saladand the leprechaun pie from Brewsters.

“The food is so delicious and different. I like it here because you get to try a lot of different things you wouldn’t normally get to try,” she said, adding she also enjoyed the peach bellinis from Highwood Distillers.

“They were so good I had two,” she said.
