Technical error behind Ward 14 recount: Returning officer

More votes were counted than delivered to ward 14 polling stations, according to the city.

The results are the same after a recount in ward 14, after a technical error at one of the polling stations.

According to the city's returning officer nearly 200 more votes were counted than ballots delivered in the ward 14 race, which saw newcomer Peter DeMong oust long time alderman Linda Fox-Mellway.

It was called a technical error by the city and it didn't affect the end result, leaving DeMong the winner in the ward.

Other candidates, such as contender Shawn Kao, told reporters that he was satisfied with the result of the recount.
