Teen dies after vehicle strikes post

A 17-year-old boy is dead after the second fatal collision involving teenagers in the National Capital Region this week.

Gatineau police Const. Jean-Francois Belanger said a vehicle was travelling east along Maloney Boulevard, near Labrosse Boulevard, early yesterday morning when the driver lost control of the vehicle, striking a post. The 17-year-old front-seat passenger was killed.

The 16-year-old driver and a 15-year-old passenger in the back seat had to be extricated. Both suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Weather conditions and speed may have been factors in the collision, Belanger said.

On Sunday, Bradley Rivington, 19, Christopher Sabean, 19, and Ginny Marko, 16, were killed when the pickup truck they were travelling in rolled into a ditch in Navan.
