A Mexican teenager had to be treated after she injected the dangerous drug known as Krokodil into her vagina, causing her genitals to rot.
The 17-year-old girl told doctors in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, that she had been using the drug for two months, according to a report on Opposing Views.
First popular in Russia, more cases of the deadly heroin substitute have spread across the ocean. The drug is known for causing the injection site to rot and giving users crocodile-like patches of skin on their bodies. It is made by mixing codeine with substances like gasoline, oil or alcohol.
The teenager told doctors she easily obtained the drug in Mexico City.
“The young woman who used this drug had an infection that had rotted her genitals,” a doctor at Mexico’s National Institute of Migration told Mexican said, according to Opposing Views. “It wasn’t sexually transmitted.”
