Vancouver police released video Thursday of a teen they say is a suspect in a sexual assault on a nine-year-old girl in early January.

The nine-year-old victim was waiting for a ride near the entrance to Arbutus Square Mall around 6 p.m. on Jan. 4 when the teen boy approached her.

He convinced her to go to a nearby park where she was sexually assaulted and threatened.

The suspect, who police say is in his early teens, has short blonde hair and possible curls. He is between five feet one inch and five feet five inches in height and has an average build.

He was spotted in the mall walking beside the victim. At the time, he was wearing jeans and a black coat and carrying a black Nike backpack.
