At least five people are in custody after 10 people were shot in what police are calling a gang-related shooting near Oak and West 22nd streets early yesterday.
Vancouver police Const. Jana McGuinness said some victims were found on the street nearby, while others showed up at area hospitals.
Ann Oxendale, who lives nearby, said she heard a dozen popping noises — which she recognized as gunshots — followed by a woman’s scream.
“I never expected (gun violence) here,” she said. “I guess it can happen anywhere.”
