An Edmonton man who was declared a dangerous offender for a vicious beating that left a man in a vegetative state has been accused of having drugs in his jail cell.
Leo Teskey was being held at the Edmonton Remand Centre in early August awaiting transfer to a federal facility when authorities allege they found the stash.
Michelle Davio, a spokeswoman with the Alberta Solicitor General’s Office, says it is believed a visitor to the facility smuggled drugs in.
Davio referred questions on what drugs may have been found to the Edmonton police, but no one with the force was able to comment late Saturday.
“It wasn’t a large amount,” Davio said. “But I understand it was more than one kind.”
