The battle against icy roads rages on

Help is on the way for Calgary motorists battling icy roads.

Sean Somers, a spokesperson with the city’s road department, said crews were still trying to catch up with work on major routes — but he anticipated more focus would be put on residential areas in the coming days.

He said that up to 15 per cent of the roughly 8,500 kilometres of residential roads in the city had been cleared by the middle of yesterday.

“It’s supposed to heat up over the weekend, so that will definitely help us make some headway,” Somers said.
