Losers will be honoured over the weekend at this year’s annual Take Off Pounds Sensibly international conference.
More than 2,400 TOPS members will gather at the World Trade and Convention Centre to share stories and model “before and after”clothing.
“We will be showcasing members’ successes, people who have lost over 100 pounds and people who have lost a significant amount of weight,” said Barb Cady, president of TOPS.
The 58th annual conference will feature a variety of keynote speakers talking about shedding the pounds and maintaining that weight loss, said Cady.
On Saturday, the international “king” and “queen” will be crowned, she said.
Jerome Biggars of Kansas lost 270 pounds and Louise Clanzy of Alabama lost 228.75 pounds
Cady said the goal of the conference is to “honour and inspire” those who have reached the weight-loss goals set by their doctors.
TOPS, a non-profit organization, has been around for more than 50 years and has chapters in every province across Canada.
