Remember when U.S. chain Friendly’s introduced the Grilled Cheese Burger Melt? Fifteen-hundred calories and 97 grams of fat’s worth of burger between two grilled cheese sandwiches.
They don’t sell it in Canada.
However, one Canuck ’wich is contending for the heavyweight champion of sandwiches.
That’s the Anaconda ($9.95) at The Factory.
It’s really four sandwiches in one. A BLT and a cheeseburger topped with fried onion rings and crammed between two grilled cheese sandwiches.
I don’t know how much fat that is and I don’t want to know.
There’s two ways to look at this.
Why try it? It actually is delicious. The grilled cheese is surprisingly greaseless on the outside. The crispy onion rings and bacon add crunch. Did I mention it’s a humongous bacon-y sandwich?
Why stay away? You’re probably consuming a week’s worth of fat. Heart attacks, obesity and so on and so forth.
If you do order it: Share it with a very brave friend and hold on for dear life. I ended up with a lap full of burger because I didn’t heed the server’s warning.
