Running out of gift ideas? How about a goat for $58?

A new charitable gift donation in the form of farm animals is hitting Calgary, allowing donors to choose a sustainable gift for people in developing countries, the spokesperson for the company behind the idea said.

“It’s a fun way to give a different type of gift and exciting to be able to play a role,” Lisa Faye said. “You can become like a farmer in a fun way.”

“When you give a goat to someone in another country, it’s not just supper for one night. It’s milk, butter and more goats, too,” she added. “But there are other things too, like chickens.”

OxFam Canada is marketing the gift cards this week at Shopper Drug Mart locations in Calgary.
