‘The penis is the dipstick of the body’s health’

Can’t get it up? Erectile dysfunction (ED) is no laughing matter. It can be a sign of impending cardiovascular disease.

“The penis is the dipstick of the body’s health,” Dr. Harry Fish, director of the Male Reproductive Center at Columbia University Medical Center of New York Presbyterian Hospital was recently quoted as saying. And the problem with going online to order ED pills such as Viagra, which help with erections, is that the meds may mask a serious problem.

The same factors that thicken arteries to the heart — high cholesterol and high blood pressure — can also clog up the blood vessels to the penis, say experts. If you or your partner is suffering from ED, see your doctor.
